Yanhua ACDP Adds a Free Upgrade for Clearing the Alarm State on Newer JLR Models

Yanhua has introduced a free ACDP upgrade. The new function clears the alarm state on supported JLR models, allowing OBD communication to resume so the technician can move on to the next step of the job.

What Does the New ACDP Function Do?

On some newer JLR vehicles, opening the door with a lock-picking tool during an all-keys-lost job can trigger the alarm. Once this happens, normal OBD communication may no longer be available, making it difficult to continue with key programming.

The new ACDP2 function is designed to deal with this problem. Instead of immediately moving on to RFA replacement or chip work, technicians can first connect to the RFA module and use the software’s Turn off anti-theft alarm function.

After the alarm state is cleared successfully, OBD communication can return to normal. The technician can then continue with the supported key programming procedure or replace the RFA module or its chip if necessary.

The upgrade is free, but it requires ACDP Module 24 authorization and a compatible cable.

How Is ACDP Connected to the RFA Module?

According to Yanhua’s connection diagram, the RFA connector must remain connected during the alarm-clearing procedure.

– White wire (CAN-H) to Pin 2 of the RFA connector
– Green wire (CAN-L) to Pin 20 of the RFA connector

The procedure requires a PCAN (Included in YANHUA Module 3 Package), PTCU (Included in YANHUA Module 19 Package), or PECU cable, depending on the setup. Make sure to check the wiring diagram and vehicle compatibility before connecting anything, as the correct procedure can vary by vehicle configuration.

Do You Need to Remove the RFA Module?

Clearing the alarm and removing the RFA module are two different jobs. The purpose of this new function is to clear the alarm state so the vehicle can communicate through OBD again. Yanhua’s diagram shows the CAN wires being connected to the RFA connector, with the connector left in place.

In other words, the diagram does not say that the entire RFA module must be removed just to clear the alarm.

However, if the next step involves replacing the RFA module or working directly on its chip, removal may still be necessary. That depends on the vehicle and the repair being carried out.

So, if you’re asking whether the new ACDP function eliminates every need to remove the RFA, the answer is no. It provides a way to handle the alarm state, but it doesn’t necessarily eliminate the work involved in subsequent module or chip replacement.

What Do You Need Before Starting?

  • A compatible Yanhua ACDP or ACDP2
  • Module 24 authorization
  • A PCAN, PTCU, or PECU cable
  • Access to the RFA connector
  • A JLR vehicle supported by this function

This free ACDP upgrade addresses a specific problem that can come up during all-keys-lost work on newer JLR vehicles: the alarm is triggered, and OBD communication becomes unavailable.

Just remember that clearing the alarm is not the same as completing the key programming process. Whether the RFA needs to be removed later depends on what needs to be done next.
