What is your choice for Benz Diagnosis, MB Star, VXDIAG, or Openport? Here we are going to compare these three, which are the most common devices on Mercedes Diagnosis. Hope this could help you find the best tool.
With constant use some weak parts fall off so have to bandage it for stable connection.

Car since 2005 are read without problems, W164, W221, encode, offline, flash, to year 2016 2017, then it copes poorly, you need more serious tools.

2.VXDIAG
A wonderful tool has rooted itself. This tool has never crashed with as always connected.
If you start flashing, here show you.
There is a manager, and never update firmware, because it will hang there.
Also, I always connect it by a cable not Wi-Fi, and Do Not install the latest version.
It works on new cars very well, W223, W213…
I consider it is the most versatile device for my money at the moment.
3.SD C4
Few people have the original, good factory, China clone also works very well.
For old cars, irreplaceable, until 2005, reads perfectly.
Shortcoming is that clone motherboard die RAM on them very often. With repair problem not worth it, but very high quality, assembles complete sets.
I keep it purely for cases with old cars. For new machines it doesn’t read very well, since often doesn’t all the modules especially W223.
Summary:
VXDIAG Scanner is enough for a full-fledged diagnostic car service. Openport is good for Mercedes from 2005-2016/2017, SD C4 is indispensable to old cars before 2005.
