Alientech has released KESS3 Upgrade 3.44, bringing new BENCH protocols for Bosch “Locked” ECUs used in newer BMW and MINI vehicles. The update focuses on DDE8 and DME8 engine control units and expands KESS3 coverage for modern petrol and diesel applications.
New Bosch MD1 and MG1 BENCH Protocols
The latest release adds support for the following Bosch ECUs:
- Bosch MD1CP032
- Bosch MD1CS001
- Bosch MG1CS024
- Bosch MG1CS049
- Bosch MG1CS201
These protocols are designed for ECUs from 2021 onward and cover selected applications from BMW, MINI and Alpina.
BENCH Programming Without Opening the ECU
One of the key advantages of Upgrade 3.44 is the connection method.
The new protocols allow technicians to work with supported locked Bosch ECUs directly through ECU connector in BENCH mode, without opening the ECU. This can simplify the workflow and reduce the need for invasive operations.
For workshops working regularly with modern BMW electronics, this provides a more direct approach to ECU management and calibration.

The update covers a broad range of BMW models, including selected:
- BMW 1 Series
- BMW 2 Series
- BMW 3 Series
- BMW 4 Series
- BMW 5 Series

- BMW M2, M3, M4, X3 M and X4 M
Selected MINI Clubman, Cooper and Countryman models are also included, together with several Alpina XD3, XD4, B3, B3 GT, B4 and B4 GT applications.
